As we move into the summer, we are delighted to share some exciting milestones and opportunities from across the GREENIN community. This month, we celebrate the outcome of our feasibility study funding call, with four excellent projects selected for support. This is a key milestone for GREENIN and will help drive forward real-world solutions in indoor greening, environmental quality, health and wellbeing.
We are also excited to highlight GREENIN's first major research output on indoor green infrastructure as climate-ready environmental infrastructure, alongside growing international engagement and new routes for collaboration. Our Lunch & Learn Webinar Series continues to provide a vibrant platform for sharing cutting-edge research, and we warmly invite you to join our next session. If you would like to present your own research in a future webinar, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Results Are Out: GREENIN Feasibility Study Funding
The GREENIN team is delighted to announce the successful projects selected through our highly competitive Feasibility Study Funding Call.
The GREENIN Plus Network is investing £105,000, supporting three projects with £30,000 each and one project with £15,000:

Dr John Calautit – University of Nottingham (£30,000)
Tracy Epton – University of Manchester (£30,000)
Dr Akash Biswal – University of Surrey (£15,000)
These projects represent an important milestone for GREENIN and will help deliver innovative, real-world solutions in indoor greening, environmental quality, health and wellbeing.

GREENIN International Engagement in China
This month, Professor Prashant Kumar promoted GREENIN during his visit to Southeast University, China.
The visit brought together Master's students, PhD researchers, postdoctoral researchers and academics, creating valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange in aerosol science, air quality, environmental engineering and indoor greening.
Through lectures and discussions, Professor Kumar highlighted GREENIN's vision of indoor greening as essential environmental infrastructure while encouraging future collaborations, joint research projects and student exchanges.
New Publication
Indoor Plants as Climate-Ready Infrastructure: GREENIN's First Major Research Output
GREENIN's first major publication, "Ten Questions on Indoor Greening and Environmental Quality", brings together 35 international experts to examine how indoor plants and engineered green systems influence indoor environmental quality.
The paper introduces a practical ten-question framework alongside a comprehensive matrix of indoor greening interventions and indoor environmental quality parameters to support future research and implementation.

Have Your Say on Greener Streets and Homes
As part of the GP4Streets project led by GCARE, two online surveys are now open.
One survey is aimed at residents and community members involved in gardening or DIY greening, while the second is designed for professionals working in greening, air quality, climate, health and related fields.
The findings will help shape practical guidance for greener, healthier and more climate-resilient neighbourhoods.

The CHILI Hub Scientific Symposium 2026 will take place on 1 July 2026, bringing together researchers and partners to explore how indoor environments influence child and adolescent health.
