We are delighted to share another exciting month of progress across the GREENIN Micro Network Plus.
This month marks an important milestone for the network with the publication of our first major research paper, bringing together the expertise of 35 international researchers to explore the role of indoor greening in improving environmental quality and human health. Alongside this achievement, we continue to expand opportunities for collaboration through our upcoming Sandpit Workshop, webinar series, funding opportunities, PhD studentships and resources from across the GREENIN community and our sister networks.

GREENIN Project Achieves Its First Major Research Output!
We are delighted to share a significant milestone for the GREENIN Micro Network Plus project with the release of our first major publication, led by Professor Prashant Kumar with contributions from 35 experts across the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, India and Brazil.
Published in Building and Environment, the paper presents new evidence demonstrating how indoor plants can improve environmental quality while supporting healthier homes and workplaces. This publication represents months of international collaboration and reflects GREENIN's commitment to creating healthier and more climate-resilient indoor environments.

Join the GREENIN Team
The Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) is recruiting a part-time Project Officer to support its growing portfolio of clean air and climate research initiatives.
The successful candidate will contribute to funding proposal development, project management, stakeholder engagement, communications and operational delivery across several major research programmes, including SMART-COAT and GP4Streets.
GREENIN Sandpit Workshop
Applications remain open for the GREENIN Sandpit Workshop until 28 February 2026.
This online workshop will bring together experts from academia, industry, policy and communities to co-create innovative feasibility study ideas focused on indoor greening. Participants will have the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £30,000 for feasibility studies lasting 6–9 months.
The workshop will take place on 12 March 2026.
Upcoming Webinar – GREENIN Lunch & Learn Webinar #46
We are pleased to announce GREENIN Webinar #46, taking place on 4 March 2026 (12:30–13:30 BST).
The GREENIN Webinar Series provides monthly online sessions featuring two expert speakers, followed by a live Q&A. All webinars are recorded and made available for on-demand viewing.

Sister Network News – BreatHE IN Sandpit
Our sister network BreatHE IN is hosting its first in-person Sandpit event on 29 April 2026 at the University of Birmingham.
The event will bring together researchers, practitioners, industry partners and community stakeholders to develop collaborative ideas for future feasibility studies focusing on the diagnosis and monitoring of indoor environments.
Participation in the Sandpit is the first step towards applying for feasibility study funding of up to £72k FEC.

PhD Studentships – Cohort 8
Applications are now open for the next generation of Aerosol Scientists.
One featured studentship, Beyond Decoration: The Active Role of Houseplants in Indoor Aerosol Dynamics, will investigate how indoor plants influence airborne particles generated by activities such as cooking and smoking using sensor networks, laboratory experiments and computational modelling.
The project is supervised by Professor Prashant Kumar.
University of York Funded PhD Opportunity
The University of York is offering a fully funded PhD studentship investigating indoor air quality within residential environments.
The project combines experimental measurements with modelling techniques to improve understanding of indoor air pollution and support healthier indoor environments.
Free CPD Courses on Green, Blue and Grey Infrastructure
Seven free online CPD courses are now available through the RECLAIM Network.
The courses explore how green, blue and grey infrastructure can help address major environmental challenges including:
Air pollution
Urban overheating
Flooding
Noise pollution
Biodiversity loss
Carbon storage
Mental health
Participants can complete the courses at their own pace and receive a certificate upon completion.

Urban Greening "How-To" Toolkit
The RECLAIM Network has launched a practical Urban Greening Toolkit designed to support local authorities, councillors and community leaders.
The free resource provides practical guidance on using nature-based solutions—including trees, rain gardens, ponds and green roofs—to address air pollution, flooding, overheating, biodiversity loss and other urban challenges.
