GREENIN Micro Network Plus has officially launched!
Welcome to the first GREENIN Micro Network Plus Newsletter!
Led by the University of Surrey’s Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE), in collaboration with the Universities of Oxford, University of York, UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), University of Bath, and Cranfield University, the GREENIN Network explores how indoor plants can improve air quality, regulate temperature, and enhance wellbeing in our built environments.
With £600,000 funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the project brings together local and international partners — from government and academia to councils and charities — to study how indoor greening can transform workplaces and homes.
The team will investigate how plants influence indoor environmental quality (IEQ), including air quality, humidity, temperature, and the social and psychological benefits of greener spaces. Insights from this research will help shape practical design guidelines, policy advice, and community engagement strategies that promote healthier, more sustainable indoor environments — particularly for vulnerable populations affected by poor air quality.
