🌿 GREENIN second Advisory Board Meeting

On 30 September 2026, the GREENIN Micro Network Plus held its second Advisory Board meeting online, bringing together project leaders, researchers and external advisors to review progress and discuss the next steps for advancing healthier, more sustainable indoor environments through greening.

The meeting brought together 20 participants, including GREENIN co-leads, Advisory Board members, Sandpit project teams, Mini Fellows and members of the wider GREENIN community.

During the meeting, the team shared updates on the Network’s progress since the first Advisory Board meeting in March 2026, including:

  • Growing the GREENIN community to more than 250 members and over 40 partner organisations across academia, industry, government and the third sector.

  • Supporting four interdisciplinary Sandpit projects exploring classroom greening, indoor greening inventories, digital twins and behavioural pathways to wellbeing.

  • Progressing four Mini Fellowships investigating indoor greenery, environmental quality, occupant wellbeing and healthy building environments.

  • Advancing four Rapid Reviews and four thematic Working Groups to strengthen the evidence base and encourage cross-sector collaboration.

  • Sharing knowledge through webinars, newsletters, website updates, social media and other engagement activities.

The Sandpit project teams presented their early progress and plans. These included classroom-based monitoring and modelling through GreenMyClassroom, the development of an online inventory connecting plant traits and indoor greening systems with building applications, a live digital twin for managing the benefits and risks of indoor greenery, and new tools for observing how people interact with indoor greening infrastructure.

GREENIN Mini Fellows also shared updates on research covering human-centred evaluation of indoor greenery, evidence mapping and reporting frameworks, microbial interventions, and the relationship between classroom greening, pupil attendance, engagement and wellbeing.

Advisory Board members provided valuable feedback on how GREENIN can extend the reach and impact of these projects. Discussions focused on connecting with schools and teaching unions, collaborating with existing research and professional networks, exploring applications beyond educational settings, and communicating findings through concise and accessible materials for non-technical audiences.

The feedback will help shape the next stage of GREENIN as the Network continues supporting interdisciplinary research, developing practical resources and strengthening connections between researchers, practitioners, policymakers and communities.

The meeting also looked ahead to the GREENIN End-of-Year Conference on 2 February 2027, which will provide an opportunity to share project findings, showcase emerging tools and strengthen collaboration across the indoor greening community.

We thank all Advisory Board members, project teams and Mini Fellows for their time, ideas and continued support. We look forward to sharing further updates as GREENIN progresses.
