GREENIN Membership

The GREENIN (Greening the Indoors – Transformation of Indoor Environments in a Changing Climate) Micro-Network Plus is a collaborative hub for exploring how indoor greening can improve air quality, thermal comfort, humidity regulation, and overall wellbeing. It connects researchers, designers, building professionals, policymakers, and communities working to rethink how we design and retrofit indoor spaces in the face of climate change.

GREENIN will build a cross-sector community focused on the role of indoor plants and plant-based systems in creating healthier, more resilient, and low-carbon indoor environments. The network will address knowledge gaps, support interdisciplinary collaboration, and accelerate solutions that integrate environmental science, building design, health, and social equity.

Funded by UKRI, GREENIN will deliver a wide range of activities including workshops, rapid reviews, sandpit case studies, and training fellowships. These activities aim to support feasibility studies, share best practices, and promote inclusive innovation.

GREENIN is led by the University of Surrey’s Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE), in collaboration with the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), and the Universities of Bath, Oxford, York, and Cranfield.

Members will receive regular updates, be invited to participate in events and funding calls, access project outputs, and connect with others working across indoor environment, public health, building retrofit, and nature-based solutions.
