Prof Kam Bhui is an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of eco-social, syndemic, and health systems research, with a focus on improving policy and practice to reduce health inequalities and adverse outcomes, including persistent mental illness, suicide, and premature mortality.

His work connects environmental, cultural, and biological dimensions of health—spanning topics such as ethnic disparities in severe mental illness, adolescent mental health in India and Kenya, the impact of adversity and inflammation on mental and physical health, and public health approaches to prevent and reduce mental health disparities, reduce criminal justice involvement. He is also co-designing, developing and delivering digital interventions for prevention and care and reducing health inequalities.
