Prof. Sukumar Natarajan

Sukumar Natarajan is Director of the EPSRC Centre for Decarbonisation of the Built Environment (dCarb) and Deputy Director of the Centre for Energy and the Design of Environments (EDEn). His research spans building energy modelling, climate change impacts on buildings, smart meter interfaces, and occupant thermal comfort. Trained in architecture (Sushant School, India) and environmental design (Cambridge), he earned a PhD at Manchester on UK domestic energy use. Sukumar has led and contributed to numerous interdisciplinary projects, including COPSE and ENLITEN, focusing on low-energy design, energy behaviour, and large-scale building energy modelling across communities and regions.
